Get Rid of Cockroaches

Cockroaches can be an absolutely unhealthy threat to our everyday lives. They are the most common of all household pests. If neglected, they can be the cause to serious health issues. There are in all about 30 species of cockroaches that we see around us and out of these 4 species can be serious troublemakers.

Two Main Common Cockroach Species Found At Home:

German Cockroach   American Cockroach
Size: 5/8” - Also known as the “croton bug” the German roach is brown in color with 2 dark stripes on thorax. The wings are as long as the body or slightly overlapping in both sexes, despite this they prefer to run or climb. It prefers moist environments such as kitchen cabinets and bathrooms.   Size: 1 ½” - Also known as the palmetto bug, the American Cockroach is reddish brown in color and has a pale yellow area around the perimeter of the pronotum. These cockroaches tend to be found in dark, undisturbed areas that are high in humidity.

Where do these pests come from?

Cockroaches gain entry into your home or office through openings like the drainage, cracks in the wall and openings under the doors or any other vents. Cockroaches are great survivors as they have just basic needs. Your home with all the food and comfortable nesting locations is an attractive location for the cockroaches to breed and multiply. Cockroaches multiply real fast, so don’t go by the number of these pests that you see. There are several others peeping at you through holes, crevices and just about any vent.

The droppings of these pests, skin or wings of the insect all can lead to contamination of food and water and thus, lead to serious health issues. Roaches are known to be the cause of diseases like gastroenteritis, dysentery, other stomach ailments and allergies. It is essential that the cockroach infestation be dealt with effectively right at the beginning itself.
